On Thursday, 29th June, Roland Bell from “Kettering Cyclones” Cycling Club came to put the Beavers through their paces to earn their Cyclist Badge. Their criteria for success was:
Finding out why it’s important to wear safety equipment such as helmet, reflective clothing and lights; Show how to put on and wear a cycle helmet correctly; Show how to pump up a tyre; Go for a short ride in a safe place.
Luckily we had the sportsfield pavilion grounds on our doorstep and good weather that evening. Everyone had a fun time while learning valuable lessons in road safety, bike maintenance, and even managed to negotiate successfully round an obstacle course.
